Italian Cycling Tours - Custom Group and Corporate Tours Ideas
We have run custom tours in several parts of Italy for many different types of groups, from groups of friends to groups of work colleagues. But the common factor is the attention to detail that goes into the organisation and running of the tours.
To give you an idea of what we can do and what we get asked, here is a brief outline of a trip we ran in May 2009, which will give you an idea of how we work and what some customers ask for.
We were approached by a large international law practice who wanted a 9 day cycling trip in Italy for a few of the partners. They were a group of 13 riders who had ridden together many times before, with an annual trip together each year. Their requirements were that we were close to a major international airport and that the riding was hard (but not daft) at around 100km a day as the group had varying abilities. They also wanted one day that had a big challenge in it. So we set about creating an itinerary that took in the lakes, mountains and wine regions of Piemonte. We were never more than 2 hours drive from Milan's airports. We used hotels that were small, interesting and had good facilities. The idea was to give them as much different terrain and scenery as possible, but also time to relax and enjoy the riding. The ride started in Como in Lombardia and passed though the mountains via Ivrea to Pinerolo from where they rode a 160km day that included the climb to Sestriere. It then continued into the Langhe region with its rolling hills covered in vines and finished in Acqui Terme. We used 2 support vans for the ride and had 2 guides.
This is what they had to say about the trip on their return:
"Italian Cycling Tours organised the 2009 cycling tour for partners at Allen & Overy LLP, the international law firm. They suggested a superb route and booked hotels which were interesting and cyclist friendly. They were attentive in the preparation of the tour, responding promptly to all manner of unusual requests. On the road, they provided excellent support and guidance, maintaining good humour throughout. The trip went extremely smoothly, and that was down to Italian Cycling Tours organisation skills and local knowledge."
