2010 Monte Paschi Eroica

Friday 05 March to Monday 08 March 2010

For 2010 we are running a special tour to see the Eroica in Tuscany. It has already been dubbed the "Paris Roubaix of Italy" as it is run on white gravel roads that run through the Tuscan countryside, making for a very unique and hard race. The weekend will enable you to not only ride these famous roads on both days, but also to see the professional race on the Saturday.
We will be based in Siena for the weekend, a city that is famous through out the world for its beauty, the wine region it sits in and the food that the area produces. Our hotel will be in the old walled section of the city. We will be riding both on the Saturday and the Sunday, in total around 160km over 2 days (weather dependent), the idea being to do the same course as the professionals, south of Siena, but over 2 days. On the Saturday we will also have the opportunity to see the professional race at least once.

Tour Programme

Friday 05 March 2010 - Arrival in Siena and Preparation. Collection of participants from Pisa Airport and transfer to your hotel in Siena. Time to unpack; prepare bicycles and equipment for the next two days' group cycling. If you cannot wait to check out the immediate locality then you can take a short cycle ride on your own or take a stroll through Siena.
Evening – Dinner at your leisure.

Saturday 06 March 2010 - Group ride along the Erooica course with the professionals. We will pick up the Eroica course that passes through Siena, directly heading south towards Montalcino. You will be riding the same route and roads as the professionals and somewhere along this route we will have the spectacular sight as we are caught and passed by them. If we are lucky we will be able to cut across the course and see the professionals again. We will stop for a light lunch on the route, before heading back towards Siena.

Sunday 07 March 2010 - Group ride along the Eroica course. Today will be a relaxed start as we again head south from Siena on the Eroica course. This time there will be no professional race, meaning we should be able to relax and take it easy. Again lunch will be on the route, before heading back towards Siena.
Evening - Celebration Dinner

Monday 08 March 2010 - Departure from Siena. Morning transfer of participants to Pisa airport for the return flights home.
